About Oallen Law

About Oallen Law

A Sydney family law firm built around one idea: people going through a separation deserve clear advice, real care and a lawyer who is on their side.

Our story

A firm shaped by our standards

We established Oallen Law to offer the kind of legal service we would want for our own families. That means knowing who is handling your matter, being able to reach them, and trusting that they are giving it the attention it deserves.

From our office in Sydney CBD, we advise and represent clients in separation and divorce, parenting matters, property settlements, consent orders, and binding financial agreements. Our work also extends to wills, estate planning, and conveyancing.

Our lawyers have acted in complex property settlements and contested parenting matters. We bring that experience to each matter, paying close attention to the details that could make a difference to the outcome.

Our clients come to us at different stages in life, whether a relationship is ending, they are buying a home or they want to put arrangements in place for their family. Each matter brings its own history, responsibilities and priorities. We take the time to understand yours.

Based in the St James Trust Building on Elizabeth Street, we act for clients throughout Sydney, including the CBD and Eastern Suburbs. Appointments are available in person, by telephone or by video.

Our approach

How we practise.

At Oallen Law, we have built a practice defined by strategic thinking, integrity and transparency. We believe people make better decisions when they understand their position, their available choices and the potential consequences of each. Our goal is to always ensure our clients have a proper understanding of the matters they face.

We do not believe every dispute requires a fight, and not every dispute can be resolved by compromise.

Good judgment lies in knowing the difference.

How we work

Four principles we do not compromise.

  1. Attention to detail

We take care to understand the facts, examine the documents and follow up on anything that needs clarification. Those details inform our advice and how we handle your matter.

  2. Every step has a purpose

We consider what each step will achieve, what it will cost and whether it serves your interests. Our recommendations reflect both your immediate priorities and the longer-term implications.

  3. Thorough preparation

We look at the evidence, identify weaknesses and prepare your position carefully. That preparation strengthens your position in negotiations and provides the foundation for your case if court proceedings are necessary.

  4. Professional judgment

We exercise our own judgment about the steps we recommend. We explain what is worth pursuing and why, and advise against action that is unlikely to serve your interests. You decide how to proceed after discussing our recommendations.

Our standards

What you can hold us to.

  • ResponsivenessWe respond to new enquiries within one business day and return client calls and emails promptly. If a question requires further work, we let you know when to expect an answer.
  • Transparency on costsYou will receive a written costs disclosure and fee estimate before work begins. If the anticipated costs change, we explain the reasons and provide an updated estimate.
  • ConfidentialityWe respect the personal nature of what you share with us. We keep your information secure and only share it when needed to handle your matter or meet a legal obligation.
  • HonestyWe don’t just tell you what we think you want to hear. We give you an honest assessment of your position from the outset, including what may be achieved and the difficulties you may face. You can trust that our advice reflects our professional judgment and your interests. That is what practising on principle means to us.
